About 4 weeks ago I quit chocolate and sweets. I’m hypoglycemic so I was trying to do myself a favor. Plus, I tend to have a problem with moderation so it’s feast or famine with me.

Days later I started feeling sickly, then my skin started to break out and I began to feel depressed.

Malaise lasted until Halloween, at which time a friend offered me a mini Snickers bar. I didn’t want to be rude, so I quickly consumed it. Snickers was followed by 3 Musketeers and then Hersheys. Bad chocolate never tasted so good.

The next day, I felt great. There was a lilt in my step, a gleam in my eye and my skin was glowing.

So, here’s what I’ve learned:
  1. If I don’t eat chocolate I get sick and depressed.
  2. If I don’t eat chocolate I get acne.
  3. Too much chocolate makes me feel bad, but none at all makes me feel worse.
  4. I need to start working on moderation.
  5. Just because something works for other people doesn’t mean it works for me. I’ve got to learn to accept this and roll with it.

Never give up on chocolate. That’s just wrong.

I believe what you were experiencing was “chocolate detox.” :-)
